Josephine Nkrumah, the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) ambassador to Liberia, informed the officials that a Facebook user had threatened her life.

The user, named as Carson, allegedly posted on Facebook asking the mayor of Monrovia to "send her down six feet," according to Ms. Nkrumah, who wrote a letter to the Liberian justice ministry.

The user asserted that the action would bring the security situation in Liberia to the notice of the international community.

Jefferson Koijee, the mayor of Monrovia City, has accused his political rivals of disseminating false information in advance of the elections in October.
