According to the UN organization for children, Unicef, in nations like Somalia, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan, the number of pregnant women and girls who are malnourished has increased by a quarter in the last two years.

According to Unicef, malnutrition affects more than a billion women and adolescent females worldwide.

They are concerned that recent crises like the conflict and COVID 19 have made it harder for them to obtain the food they require.

It has pleaded with the international community to prioritize food security, including by assisting faltering nutrition initiatives.
