Prices of petroleum products are expected to shoot up by at least 5 percent from Wednesday, March 16, 2022, the Institute for Energy Security (IES) has projected.
In its projections for the March 2022 Second Pricing Window, which will take effect from March 16, 2022, to March 31, 2022, the IES said the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will go up by 3 percent whereas petrol and diesel would go up by 5 percent and 9 percent respectively.
The drivers wondered why the prices of fuel are not the same at the various fuel pumps. They noted that there has been a decline in their daily sales as most passengers have failed to board their vehicles over the high transport fares.
Meanwhile, some of the fuel attendants who spoke to our reporter noted that they have information that, the prices would be reduced in the coming days.
They also expressed worry in the recent hikes lamenting the different prices at the pumps.
The Deputy Secretary in charge of administration for GPRTU revealed to Soiree News that, they are still contemplating for a while before they could decide on what to do. He disclosed that at the moment they have no intention of increasing transport fares.
