Speaking in an interview with this news outlet, the National Chairman of C-DAG, Mr. Paa Willie stated that the C-DAG in its earlier statement entreated that its members are to stick to the old operational fares for all journeys throughout the country.
"We have not forgone the increment of Transport fares. The earlier statement noted that the public outcry that met our earlier announcement has been considered. Because of that, a meeting shall be conveyed between leadership, Coalition of Transport Operators which comprises of GPRTU and other major stakeholders on Tuesday, January 18, 2022," the chairman noted.
Mr. Willie reiterated "to our fellow Ghanaian Citizens and other nationals residing here in our country that, even today, the prices of fuel commodities have been adjusted upwards. A development further fortifying our quest to have fares increased.
This latest development, according to him, has caused us to rethink our decision to have our earlier proposal reduced a bit.
He entreated all the drivers to stick to the old transport fares and wait until an update from leadership on Wednesday.
