A Tamale based Journalist of SoireeNews, Mr Ibrahim Nurudeen has welcomed the Green Ghana project.

In his comment after planting a mango tree in his neighbourhood, he admonished Ghanaians to zealously join President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo's initiative in making the sixteen regions of the country Green.

According to him, creativeness is achievable only if the citizenry voluntarily owns the project at their various localities.

Mr Nurudeen called for patriotism and more efforts in order to continue with the project annually.

He urged the Forestry Commission to go beyond organizing jamboree ceremonies and take serious measures to sustain the infant programme.

The Managing Editor implored the Forestry Commission to begin weekly monitoring of the plants at the designated areas.

He noted that trees give life to mankind hence when the last tree died the last man will automatically die.

Mr Nurudeen mentioned that cutting down trees without replacing them has caused a lot of harm to the environment, especially the hot temperature currently being experienced in the five regions of the North.

He further commended the citizenry for discarding their political line during the first phase of the project.

The initiative, dubbed ‘Green Ghana, Let's Go Planting’ is part of government plans to embark on aggressive afforestation to protect Ghana's forests and the environment.
