The aggrieved residents drawn from Tema Community 4,7 amongst others who could not hold their anger, demanded a reason for the neglect of Tema Central and its environs.

According to the angry residents, no reason could be justifiable enough for the neglect of the Tema metropolis.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the coming to the office of Akufo Addo and Bawumia began the dawn of a "development drought" in Tema stressing, ", No visible development had been seen in the Tema.

Meanwhile, all the industries that contribute in huge volumes of taxes can be found in Tema so we can't think of any tangible reason for the neglect".

According to the group, motorists plying their trade within the Tema Metropolis particularly Community 4,7 amongst others could hardly enjoy visibility on the road.

The sad situation, according to the aggrieved residents poses dire circumstances for the well-being and safety within the area.

Not only did the residents raise red flags for the bad roads, but they also called out authorities to fix dysfunctional traffic lights to enable visibility. 

The residents' outburst followed a walk organized by the Communications Bureau of the Tema Central branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The walk demonstrated the deplorable state of roads within the Constituency demanding immediate attention. Addressing the media in Tema, Comrade Kingsley Acquah, Communications Director reiterated calls for the government to address issues raised by the residents.

He could not understand why roads would be left unattended amidst heavy taxes contributed by industries in the Tema Metropolis.

According to the aggrieved residents, roads within the area are not only turning into manholes but also death traps. In addition, the aggrieved residents demand answers for the dysfunction of Ghana's oil refinery, the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).

"TOR's inability to work has thrown many out of employment and the skyrocketing prices of fuel", the group alleged. They are unanimously calling on the government to remedy the situation to get TOR working again.
