COVID-19: Over 90 percent of Education Ministry staff Infected – Minister Reveals

The Minister of Education Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has disclosed that over 90 percent of staff at his ministry have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
The Minister, who is also ‘recovering’ from the disease, told the host of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Kwame Sefa Kaye that, the incident at his Ministry was discovered after a mass testing exercise was conducted over fear of disease spread.

He noted that, the majority of staff who had contracted the disease were asymptomatic.

“After my second result come out as positive, testing was conducted on all staff at the ministry and the results showed that out of every 50 persons about 45 had contracted the virus. Most of them are asymptomatic so they are isolating at home,” the minister disclosed.

Narrating his heart-wrenching ordeal at the hospital to the host, the Minister said he had not tested positive for the disease until after four days spent in the health facility following doctors’ advice.
