Covid-19: Ghana’s Health Minister Discharged from Hospital, Continuing Treatment at Home

Ghana’s Health Minister, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, who contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) where he was receiving treatment.

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who disclosed this at a press briefing on Monday evening, said Agyeman-Manu is currently responding to treatment at home.

Earlier in a post on Facebook on Monday morning, Mr Agyeman-Manu expressed appreciation to President Akufo-Addo for his well-wishes after he was infected with Covid-19 in the line of duty and was hospitalised last week.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the President and all Ghanaians for your well wishes and prayers. By the grace of God, I’m responding to treatment,” he said in the Facebook post.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo Dankwa had in a nationwide televised address on Sunday (June 14,2020) implored Ghanaians to remember the Health Minister in their prayers as the minister battles with the virulent disease.

The president also commiserated with the family of the Chief Executive of the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr Anthony K. K. Sam, who succumbed to a Covid-19-related disease on Friday, June 12.

In light of the increasing Covid-19 cases, Akufo-Addo appealed to citizens in the hotspot areas of the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Western regions - to strictly adhere to Covid-19 containment measures
