Coup' de ete in Africa is caused by Corruption and Greed - Residents of Tamale Reacts to the recent coup

Some residents of Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana have reacted to a couple of things that have taken effect in the Burkina-Faso, expressing fear over its impact on their businesses and possible escalation to other nearby countries.

According to them, now that Burkina-Faso borders are closed the situation will affect businesses in both countries.

They indicated that coup' de ete is possible in any African country because of the corruption of African leaders.

A businessman, Alhassan Shaibu told Soireenews that, the ongoing coup in most African countries like Mali, Guinea and now Burkina-Faso is causing shame to Africans, and therefore advise African leaders to be accountable to the citizenry.

According to him, the greediness of African leaders, and the suffering of the masses is likely to trigger more disaffection against the leaders.

He added that the winners take it syndrome is another factor that usually informs the citizenry to reason with coup makers.

Military officers in Burkina-Faso on Monday ousted the president of Burkina Faso, a group of soldiers announced Monday on state television, after steering a 36-hour uprising that toppled the third West African head of state within eight months.

Immediately after that, they suspended the constitution, dissolved the government and closed the borders, Ouedraogo said, without spilling any blood.

However, The military is still holding President Roch Marc Kaboré and other politicians in a safe place as the days go by.

The 15-nation Economic Community of West African States, or ECOWAS, has since condemned the coup d’etat” in a statement on Monday.

The overthrow came after hundreds of protesters marched in the streets of the capital, Ouagadougou, demanding Kaboré’s resignation.
