Coronavirus: I tested positive but 'I am neither in an ICU nor Korle Bu' – Carlos Ahenkorah

Ghana’s Deputy Trades and Industry Minister, Carlos Ahenkorah has debunked reports that he was sent to the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after he  contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19)

According to the Deputy Minister, he was indeed at Korle Bu’s Isolation Centre, but only for an overnight covid-19 status review, contrary to reports circulating.

“My attention has been drawn to messages circulating on social media to the effect that I am in ICU after testing positive to Covid-19 sending worrying signals and misinformation to my well-wishers and party faithfuls.

“I was admitted for an overnight review on my Covid status at the ISOLATION CENTER in Korle –Bu yesterday around 5 PM and discharged at 11am this morning.

Carlos Ahenkorah was in the late hours of yester night, June 2 reported to have been admitted at ICU in Korle Bu with the National Patriotic Party’s Campaign Manager, Peter Mac Manu.

Peter Mac Manu is yet to speak on the reports, however, Carlos Ahenkorah said despite testing positive for the disease, he never suffered any severe breakdown to be admitted at hospital’s ICU.

“I have not in any way been taking ill or suffer[ed] any serious break down to send me into ICU,” he said in a statement.

“I must categorically state that I am not in ICU neither am I in Korle-Bu at the moment,” he added.
