Commuters  In Ghana Would  Be Stranded Again! -As Drivers To March Naked Demo On June 1, 2022 Over Rising Cost Of Fuel
The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana have finally fixed June 1, 2022, to march naked demonstration on the streets of the national capital to express its anger at the government over the ever-increasing prices of petroleum products.
The drivers intend to block major roads during that demonstration.
At a press conference in Accra today addressed by the group’s National Public Relations Officer, Mr. David Agboado, they indicated that they have been the need for this demonstration because their transport business is collapsing under the current New Patriotic Party NPP government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo due to rampant increment of fuel, lubricants and spare parts.
They indicated that many drivers have become jobless because they cannot make their daily sales to their car owners hence the cars have to be retrieved by the owners.
They pointed out that economical hardship breeds confusion between us and our clients especially when there is an increment in fares.
“This time around, we are going naked so that it sounds different; that’s what we want to do so that the government will sit up,” they said.
Comparing the prices of fuel in Ghana to her neighbors’, the drivers asserted: “When you go to Burkina, their fuel price is 7.81; when you go to Togo, it’s 7.62; when you go to Ivory Coast, it’s 8.62”.
“Why are they also not facing the same thing that we are facing?” they wondered.
"We say enough is enough, coming 1 June 2022, we are registering our displeasure with naked demonstration," they stressed.
