Chief Appeals to Inspector General of Police (IGP) to Beef Up Security Perssonel to Fight Crime in the Area.

The Adehyiehene of Asante Akyem Praso in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Nana Okyere Darko has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Akuffo Dampare to beef up the security personnel to aid in fighting crime in the area.

Nana Okyere's appeal is a result of two infants who escaped death after they fell victim to unscrupulous persons who attempted to kill the children.

It will be recalled that two infants, 3 and 4-year-olds respectively escaped death while a portion of the 3-year-old's penis was cut off and the left-sided breast of the 4-year-old was bitten by the suspects.

The Chief condemning the incident as barbaric and unlawful has called on the IGP to beef up the police personnel in the area to enable them to fight crime.

He said the only police station is situated at Kwahu Praso in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region and which oversees the enclaves of the two Municipalities.

He further said, the Police personnel have been overstayed with the people for a long and have become known in the enclave which is not helping to check crime in the enclave.

On his part, Sanaahene of Asante Akyem Praso, Nana Ababio bemoans the incident and recounted how a boy was killed a few weeks ago in the area and the perpetrator has not been brought to book yet.

He further argues that to save their town of bad image, they will be embarking on a search in various homes to fish out residents who are not from the town and question the inhabitants to bring to book those who are not known in the town.

He was quick to advise the parents to be watchful of the activities of their wards at home and outside and to always not allow them to move lonely but protect them especially when they are going to school and returning from school.
