Central Region: Mankessim, thief stoned to death after stealing plantain.

A 30-year-old suspected plantain thief Caleb has been stoned to death at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

He was found tied to a palm tree with ropes with plantains beside him.

Besides him also was a Stones, blocks, and sticks were Suspected to be used to lynch him by unknown persons.

Information revealed that the Suspect got missing on Friday 6th May 2022 evening around 7:30 PM, he went to town and never came back home.

According to information gathered the youths, Family Members together with the Assembly Member of the area searched for him on several occasions but yielded no results.

But upon searching they saw him tied on a Palm tree which the Suspect have stoned to death when Stones, blocks, sticks,s, and other weapons were seen beside him.

A search on the body revealed that he was murdered with cuts all over his body.

Speaking to Soireenews Reporter central region, the Assembly Man for Metro Electoral Area Hounrable Cephas Arthur said, this is the third time people have been lynched within one week at Mankessim and is very worrisome to the Community.

He said the suspect is known to the area who used to work at one of the supermarkets at Mankessim and they never Suspected he will involve themselves in stealing.

Again the Assembly Man said, he Suspecteded some people intentionally murdered him and put plantain beside him to make people believe that he steals the plantain which makes people stone him to death.

According to him, he doesn't behave like the Suspect is a thief as people are saying.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Man for the Nkusukum Electoral Hounrable Mohammed Ekow Arthur Area also blamed the Police in Mankessim for poor patrols the night.

According to him, the police in Mankessim don't do the night duties as they are expected, he said, though the police Personnel in the Mankessim are very small they have to do their night duties well.

He said the rate at which people are Killing in Mankessim is beyond their imagination.

He said, within one week, three people have been murdered without knowing the reasons behind it.

So he is urging the police to do their patrols well as they can't sleep at night.

He then condemned those acts and advised the general public to stay away from instant killing.

According to him, people have lost trust in the Ghana Police hetthinkssk peoples prefer instant killing that reporting armed robbery cases to the police.

Lastly, some of the residents at Mankessim said, they can't sleep at night as they are living in fear and panic.

According to them, three people have been lynched within one week and the situation is giving them nightmares which police Must come in and help them.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been since deposited at the Saltpond Government hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

No arrest has been made so far. The investigation is ongoing.
