Chelsea wants to resign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool.

According to a report from The Daily Star, the 28-year-old Egyptian striker has grown frustrated with Liverpool’s performance and Thomas Tuchel could line him up on the right-wing, with Timo Werner and then Mason Mount to his left.

Mohammad Salah was never given a huge amount of encouragement under Jose Mourinho’s watch but few would have expected him to turn into perhaps the best striker in the world over the last couple of years. At 28, he still probably has a couple of years left in him and if he maintained his performance levels he could conceivably turn Chelsea back into title contenders.

Chelsea is said to have added former forward Mohammad Salah to their shortlist for the 2021/22 season - and he could have a leading role in their star-studded line-up.

The Liverpool forward has been linked with a move away from Anfield this season, having scored 123 goals in 198 appearances. With Jurgen Klopp’s side seventh in the Premier League and out of all cup competitions, the Egyptian’s frustration has seen Real Madrid and Barcelona start sniffing.

But German outlet Bild has reported that Salah has also piqued the interest of former side Chelsea.

The Blues, where Salah made 19 appearances in between stints at Basel and Roma have also joined the race for his signature.

Thomas Tuchel already has a lot of attacking options to choose from, though, with Chelsea scoring 33 goals and losing two games since he arrived but Salah offers a lot of creativity on the right-wing, which could see him slot into a more prominent position of the German’s 3-5-2.

It may have to be adjusted, though, to a 3-4-3 with Timo Werner leading the line and Mason Mount on the left-wing or Salah could be given full goal-scoring responsibilities at the top of the line, with the Englishman and Christian Pulisic behind him.

While Kai Havertz can continue his development in the Premier League on the bench. Chelsea’s interest in Salah puts the 28-year-old on a three-man list with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and another former Stamford Bridge star Romelu Lukaku.
