Kai Havertz would leave Bayern Leverkusen this summer following the Bundesliga club's failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

This has boosted Chelsea’s chances of securing the service of the 21-year old whose current contract with Die Werkself runs out in 2022.

Frank Lampard last month denied bidding for the German international yet report by the Guardian suggests that the Blues are ready to push ahead with plans to sign Havertz.

"He's a top player but we're certainly not going to comment on players at other teams," said the Chelsea head coach last month before the restart. "It cannot be our focus. No bids have gone in."
