A chainsaw operator has been allegedly murdered by some alleged Forestry Commission staff at Amenam, a farming and mining community in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region of Ghana, according to the deceased relatives.

Although the perpetrators of the crime are yet to be arrested and identified.

The family of the deceased now late Daniel Owusu has disclosed to the media, that their relative’s body was found in the forest with gunshot wounds by alleged Forestry officials on an inspection mission.

Moreover, the bereaved family, indicated that the incident occurred while Daniel was out in the forest for his normal routine duty of operating Chainsawing.

Confirming the incident, the District Police Commander, DSP Peter Ofori Donkor opined, that upon receiving a distress call, a team of policemen were dispatched to the scene, where the body of the deceased was helplessly laid and was retrieved.

The body has since been deposited at Abirem Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy, according to the Police.

DSP Peter Ofori Donkor said, investigations to ascertain the cause of the death has been opening up to also bring the perpetrators to book.
