Business Owners Of Assin District Lament As They Count Their Losses To 'Dumsor' In The Area.

Some angry customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana in the three 3 Assin Districts, namely, Assin North, Assin South, and Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region have heavily descended on the ECG over rampant unannounced power cut that has led to the collapsing of their businesses.

Some cold store operators at Assin Breku, Fosu, and other communities speaking to Sorienews reporter said they had to dispose of hundreds of cartons of spoilt and rotten fish due to weeks of unreliable power supply in the area.

Some cold store operators and other businesses have also been saddled with the cost of repairing their freezers that have broken down as a result of the rampant power fluctuations.

Meanwhile, some drinking spot sellers said they are in serious debt due to the rampant power outages and in this light, some have threatened to boycott bill payments until ECG restored power to them.

Speaking to the ECG manager for Assin Fosu District, Mr. Harild Wilson blamed the intermittent power cut on the Assin Fosu-Assin Praso road construction.

He asserted that they are working to remove and relocate light poles and transformers to pave way for the construction, hence the small "dumsor they are experiencing."

Mr. Harild Wilson said, the relocation and maintenance work should have started earlier but the challenge was heavy resistance from landowners as they prevent them from placing their poles on their lands and this is making their work difficult.

He, therefore, called on their customers to exercise patience as power will soon be restored to them to boost their business activities.
