The Bono East Regional Director for Agriculture, Madam Cecilia Kegya Agyemang has called on Ghanaians to desist from denigrating the status and value of farmer's day wards as it goes through a constructive and rigorous process to select nominees for the awards.

According to her, none of the farmers pays a pesewa to any of the team conducting the nominee selection for his or her name to be included which indicates that, the awardees are the deserving ones after going through the process.

She was answering questions in an interview on Soireenews on the perception among Ghanaians that there is favouritism and politics in awarding farmers on the farmers day celebration.

She outlined the processes, criteria and measures being put in place for one to qualify for any of the awards with no regard to race, gender, political affiliation or position hence the need to disregard such thoughts.

Speaking about good agriculture practices, she urged farmers in the region and the country at large to seek support from the various Agric departments on the application of chemicals on their crops to evade food poisoning.
