Baby-thief lynched at Berekum

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the body at the Holy Family Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy and investigation. 

Baby-thief lynched at Berekum

 An unidlllentified young man in his 20s has been lynched for allegedly stealing a three-month-old baby at Abisase in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region.

The body of the deceased at the time of filing this report was lying decomposed at the incidence scene at Abisase although the Police and Environmental Health Officers had been called to intervene, they were yet to appear.

According to an eyewitness, the young man entered the room of the victim around 2:30 am on Tuesday 22nd June 2021 and managed to make away with the baby.

Unfortunately, the mother of the baby saw him and wake his husband up and with the help of the community, chased him for the baby.

The thief over the fear of being caught threw the baby away but was still pursued and lynched.

Speaking to soiree news, the unit committee member for Abisase-Tiwbaabi Electoral Area Yaw Boahen said the unit committee members in the town did their best to rescue the young man from being lynched but were not successful to protect him due to the police inability to respond to the distress calls.

The Berekum Police command has since retrieved and deposited the body at the Holy Family Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy and investigation.
