Attack on US convoy in Sudan 'reckless' - Blinken

An attack on a US diplomatic convoy in Sudan during conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been dubbed "reckless" by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

In Japan, where he attended a meeting of the G7 foreign ministers, he told reporters, "This action was reckless, it was irresponsible, and of course unsafe."

He stated, "We have serious worries about the overall security situation.

It happened as Mr. Blinken was discussing the need to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers and diplomats with the heads of the army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo.

Aidan O'Hara, the ambassador of the EU to Sudan, was reportedly attacked at his home in Khartoum's capital city as the army and RSF forces were engaged in combat.
