ASHAIMAN: FIX THE COUNTRY CONVENER OLIVER BARKER VORMAYO DENIED BAIL

The Convener for the Fix the country movement Oliver Mawuse Baker Vormawor has been denied bail by the Ashaiman District court after he has been charged with treason felony by the state. He is to reappear on 28th February 2022.

Though lawyers of the accused argued that the accused's continued detention amounts to gross violation of his fundamental human right, the judge, Her Honour, Eleanor Kakra Barnes-Botcway, a circuit court judge, sitting as an additional magistrate upled the prosecution's plea not to grant the defense lawyer's application that the court lacked jurisdiction to grant the accused person bail considering the gravity of the offense.

Oliver Mawuse Baker Vormawor is facing trial for an alleged comment he made on Facebook to stage a coup should the controversial E-Levy gets passed by parliament.

The hearing was held under high security.

Some members of the fix the country movement who stormed the court in solidarity with their leader were not happy with the court's decision.
