Ashaiman Circuit court remands 2 businessmen for dishonestly receiving stolen 1000 bags of flour

Two businessmen are in the grip of the Police following the remand notice served on them by the Ashaiman Circuit Court.

The duo accused persons, John Ago(A1) and Samuel Amoah(A2) are facing criminal trial for the offence of dishonestly receiving:contrary to sections 146 of the criminal offences Act,1960 (Act 29).

The counsel for the duo accused persons, Ms. Perpetual Dzidoto. Ahiadome for James Anu prayed for bail for her clients but same was refused by the Prosecutor.

The court presided over by His Honour Simon Gaga remarked that after listening to counsel for A1 and A2 praying for bail but prosecutor opposing same on the ground that the case is still under investigation hence he could not grant A1 and A2 bail, therefore remanded them into police custody.

Prosecution;ASP Fuseini Sugri reading the D/C/ Inspector R. A. Osumanu Investigative case told the court that the complainant, Isaac Kwaku Boakye a distributor of flour based in Kumasi.

The accused persons,A1, John Ago and A2, Samual Amoah are residents of Cape Coast in the Central Region.

ASP Fuseini Sugri further told the court that on the 26/4/2023, the complainant procured 1,000 bags of flour from Irani Brothers & Others Limited valued at GHS 700,000.00 and engaged the services of Sulley Salifu, a transporter to haul the goods to the depot in Kumasi.

That on the 26/04/2023, the transporter engaged the services of suspect Issaka Osman and Fuseini Iddrisu to transport the goods to the complainant in Kumasi with DAF XF 95 articulated truck with registration number GN 6380-19, who diverted the flour to Cape Coast and sold same to A1,A2 and one Philip Amoah currently at large.

He told the court that suspects Issaka Osman and Fuseini Iddrisu and two other accomplices namely Daniel Kofi Micro and Awal Iddrisu were arrested and arraigned before this honourable court and were remanded into police custody pending investigations.

He further told the court that police intelligence led to the arrest of A1 and A2 from Cape Coast and in their respective statements, the accused persons admitted to buying the stolen 1000 bags of flour from suspects Issaka Osman, Fuseini Iddrisu, Daniel Kofi Micro and Awal Iddrisu at the unit price of GHS 620.00 even though the factory price is GHS 700.00.

ASP Fuseini Sugri further informed the court that intelligence of Police has led to the retrieval of an amount of GHS 50,000.00 as part of the proceeds from the crime. The case is still under investigations.
