Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has said it is doubtful the club will sign a new striker in January.

Arteta was speaking to reporters after his team was dumped out of the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Gunners lost 2-0 to Liverpool at the Emirates, despite dominating most of the game.

It led to supporters calling on the club to bring in a new striker this month after the final whistle.

However, Arteta said: “At the moment it does not look realistic (that Arsenal will sign a striker).

“What my job is, and what we have to do is improve our players and try to get better results with the players we have.

"One thing is what we need and another is what we can do.”

Arteta added that his team needed to change the way they were losing games and start winning many more matches, adding that he was worried.

Arteta stated: “It’s very difficult but if the team is getting hammered and not playing well, and not deserving to win football matches I would be much more worried."

“I am worried because I love winning and we have to win many more games.

"At the moment, that is the thing we have to change and probably what has to be reset is up here [mentally].”
