Ansapatu Headteacher Shot Dead

Police report has revealed that Mr Gorman Ayifah was shot through the driver's side window of the car by an unknown assailant(s) and wounded him in the left eye.

The headmaster at Ansapatu, Mr Gorman Ayifah had been shot dead at the University of Cape Coast Medical School hospital on Saturday, May 22, 2021.

The cause of the shooting is yet to be ascertained but it is said that his wife heard a loud shot at the doorstep of the house only to find her husband in a pool of blood.

There have been huge concerns for such unwarranted attacks on individuals in the Central region and urgency of caution has been disclosed towards residents.

The deceased served the region diligently, kind courtesy Akosombo Textiles Limited and Yes FM.

The body has been deposited at the University of Cape Coast Medical hospital morgue whiles the police is investigation.

 BELOW IS THE POLICE REPORT

On 22/05/2021, about 2030 hours, Police had information that a man has been shot in a house opposite the University of Cape Coast Medical School Hostel on the University campus near the Cape Coast Stadium.

Police proceeded to the scene, but the victim had been taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Police proceeded to the hospital but were told that the victim was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor. The body was found lying at the mortuary with blood oozing from the left eye.

The body was examined and a gunshot wound was found on the left eye.  

The body was deposited in the morgue pending further investigation.

Information gathered at the scene of the crime by police indicated that the deceased Gorman Ayifah, aged 40, is the Head Teacher at Ansapatu Basic School near Effutu and lives at the place of incident, that about 2000 hours, deceased returned to his residence in his BMW saloon car with registration number CR 811-W, but as soon as he stopped the car in front of his house, he was shot through the driver's side window of the car by an unknown assailant(s) and wounded him in the left eye.

Effort is being made to arrest the suspect(s). Investigation is ongoing.
