Kylian Mbappe in an interview with Canal+ has expressed he needs a winning g team around him and contract talks are still ongoing with the club.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi says he is confident Paris Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe will extend his contract which ends next season, Marca reports.

The PSG forward has refused to commit his future to the French side earlier amidst speculations of transfers linking him to Real Madrid or Liverpool.

Although the French side lost the Ligue 1 to Lille by a point yet Mbappe was named  MVP of the 2020/21 Ligue 1 and with his convincing form this season, the chairman of beIN Media Group who is also the President of Paris Saint Germain is optimistic that Mbappe will sign a new deal.

"Kylian is a PSG player, and he'll continue to be a PSG player," Al-Khelaifi said on Sunday after PSG had narrowly missed out on the Ligue 1 title.

"I'm not worried. Mbappe is French and Parisian. He has a contract and he wants to stay, 100 per cent."

Mbappe has earlier opened that one thing that can convince his stay is if an assuring squad is around him.

The World Cup winner is desperate for a European medal and his sights on the Champions League is still active having missed out in the return leg of the semi-finals against Manchester City at the Etihad.

According to reports, if PSG owners can surround him with a formidable squad capable of competing for the Champions League trophy, he will stay at the Parc des Princes.

"Everyone knows what ties me to this club," Mbappe told Canal + about his relationship with PSG.

"I've always been thankful to the president and all my coaches.

"What I want to do is win. I feel like I'm somewhere where I can do that. In the sense that there's a solid project around me.

"I live for football, which is why the sporting project is essential.

"I like to think that the club I'm at can do things [in the Champions League].

"I'm in talks with the club, we'll see what happens [with my contract].

"In any case, I'm happy with the four exceptional years I've spent here.
