Akufo Addo receives a message from Wendy Shay.

Wendy Shay, an artist from Ghana, has resorted to social media to express her displeasure with the excessive import taxes levied on automobiles at the Tema Port.

Akufo Addo receives a message from Wendy Shay.

Wendy Shay praises President Akufo-Addo's commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians in a tweet she sent to him, but she also emphasizes the urgent need to eliminate import taxes, particularly those imposed on automobiles.

The gifted musician highlights the dramatic contrast between the cost of buying a car in the US and the excessive charges one must pay when importing one.

Wendy Shay uses an example to demonstrate how an automobile purchased in the US for $35,000 would require an extra $30,000 in import charges.

Your Excellence, @NAkufoAddo Please take action on import tariffs, especially those on automobiles, Mr. President. I know you care about the wellbeing of Ghanaians.

"Car import taxes are outrageous in every sense. You spend $35,000 (397,707,10 Cedis) on a car in the US, and you have to pay $30,000 USD (340,891,80 Cedis) in duty. Please take action, Mr. President," she pleaded.
