Abandoned 20-seater public toilet

A Community in the Southern part of Akuapen is pleading to their member of  Parliament Honorable Osei Bonsu Amoah who represents Akuapem South Constituency to complete their abandoned 20-seater public toilet which was started two years ago and yet to be completed.

Briefing William Ofori of Soireenews, on Saturday, the residents echoed they are living in an unhygienic environment since the destruction of their old toilet facility which served over one thousand five hundred residents.

According to some residents, it took the intervention of the parliamentary candidate to complete the other 20 seated toilet facility before the election and their fear is that as long as there is no election, the remaining one would not be completed.

They emphasized that the community that has over 3,500 voters relies only on one public toilet and diarrhea victims must walk for about one kilometer to cross the main Accra- Koforidua high way before one can ease him or herself.

They added that due to the stressful situation most people passed through in the community, open defecation through polyethylene bags has been rampant as people which is convenient, making the community one of the unhygienic environments in the Akuapem South Municipal.

The residents revealed that all efforts to find the contractor have not yielded any good results after leaving the site for the past three to four months.
