African states divided on UN vote against Russia

A UN resolution opposing Moscow's disputed referendums in four Ukrainian territories that it had annexed as part of Russia was supported by thirty African nations.

19 nations, including Eritrea, who had previously voted to oppose a UN resolution denouncing Russia's invasion of Ukraine, chose to abstain.

South Africa, Sudan, Uganda, Mali, the Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Congo-Brazzaville, Zimbabwe, and Sudan did not participate.

During the voting in the UN General Assembly, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, and Sao Tome were not present.

After Russia increased its shelling of Ukraine, he cut short his tour.
