The Chief of Kumasi Dadiesoaba, Baffuor Kofi Atobrah II has revealed disappointment towards the New Patriotic Party government for failing to honour its promises of smoothening Ghanaian roads to enhance transportation, especially in his vicinity.

His words were specially directed towards the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Christian Adu Poku (APC) and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon William Owuraku Aidoo for failing to bring to fruition the assurances of the Year of Roads to the constituency.

He stated that this current government has disappointed the people of Afigya Kwabre South especially Hemang, Sasa, Ntiribuoho and Krobo in terms of roads therefore if the New Patriotic Party can be acknowledged in the 2024 elections, their roads and other necessary infrastructures must be put up to serve the people.

“The situation is sad,” he told Soireenews reporter, Isaac Owusu.

“From Kejetia to Ntiri Buoho is just nine miles and it's unfortunate to witness how terrible our roads are. They are in a deplorable state and I have made enquiries as to when it will be renovated yet all they do tell me lies of having handed it to a contractor,” he added.

Baffuor Kofi Atobrah II revealed that he has personally visited the Afigya South District Assembly and has had series of meetings with DCE but he keeps concocting stories to him, expressing that he was even denied the opportunity to level the road sometime by the Assembly when things got worse.

“I have gone to the council to provide me with a caterpillar so I could level the grounds but they refused and since then, the nature of the road keeps deteriorating. We voted for politicians to make things better for us. Are we not part of the year of roads? We are very disappointed in the government. They are very lucky election is far away other than that, we would have revealed our anger towards them.”

He uncovered that women who go into labour and the sick who go for treatment at neighbouring towns like Maase and Afrancho normally give up their ghosts due to drivers’ refusal to ply at night on the road.

He stated that due to the tormenting situation, he started a hospital project which he thinks could help his people but the Assembly stopped him with the reason that they will soon embark on construction.

The project he revealed has come to a halt per the decision of the Assembly and it has been left in the bush to rot.

He again assured his people that he’ll let his contractors come on-site to continue what he started before further advising residents to watch out in the upcoming general elections.
