The fate of the Dome Kwabenya MP Hon Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, Honorable Henry Quartey, MP for Ayawaso Central, and Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, still hangs in the balance after Parliament failed to decide on the issue of absenteeism.

Parliament was expected to take a decision today on the findings of the Privileges Committee into the reasons for the unpermitted absenteeism of the three MPS  for more than 15 sitting days of Parliament.

The hope that the matter will at least be brought to a close today was dashed as Parliament failed in taking a decision based on the findings of the report of the Privileges Committee following an objection raised by the Majority Leader of Parliament, Honorable Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

Honorable Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu argued that the findings of the Privileges Committee lie in the bosom of the Speaker of Parliament, based on the constitution and the standing orders of Parliament to take a final decision and not to subject the findings to a debate by the house before a determination is made.

The debate by the Majority Leader was refuted by the Minority Leader, Honorable Haruna Iddrisu.

He stated that the findings of the Privileges Committee must be subjected to debate by the house for a decision to be taken by members, if possible through voting.

This necessitated the adjournment of sitting by the  Speaker of Parliament, Rt Honorable Alban Sumana to adjourn sitting on the subject matter to the next sitting in October.
