Adiembra Gets Rural Telephony And Digital Inclusion Project

The Minister for Communication and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful accompanied by the Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Awo Banahene, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West District Assembly, Mr. Francis Kwadwo Oppong, the DCE for Dormaa Central and DCE for Dormaa East has commissioned a Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project at Adiembra in the Dormaa East District.

The Minister for Communication and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful accompanied by the Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Awo Banahene, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West District Assembly, Mr. Francis Kwadwo Oppong, the DCE for Dormaa Central and DCE for Dormaa East has commissioned a Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project at Adiembra in the Dormaa East District.

The Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project has been built in seven other communities in the district.

The Telephony project is a flagship program of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization (MoCD) under the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) aimed at providing network service to communities without access to mobile networks.

The Minister in her address to the Chiefs and people of the community noted that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) had become so critical to everyday life that the government could not afford to deny any of its citizenry access to the network.

She stressed that President Akufo Addo-led government is committed to providing network infrastructure in communities without access to mobile networks.

She promised the Chiefs a modern ICT center with computers and a Wi-Fi network to enable students in the community to develop cutting-edge skills in ICT.
However, the  chiefs who graced the occasion 
 commended the Minister for selecting Adiembra as one of the beneficiaries of the Ghana Rural Telephony and Digital Inclusion project and thanked her for the promise of constructing a modern ICT center in the community.

They assured the Minister of her outfit commitment to ensure good maintenance of the facility to achieve its intended purpose. 
It would be recalled The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful announced that the central government is putting measures in place to ensure that some 3.5 million Ghanaians who are without mobile connectivity will have access by the end of 2023.

According to her, the establishment of more than two thousand ICT centers and sites is in progress and on track to make this a reality.
 “The quest of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation to develop community ICT centers and cell sites across the country will ensure that most Ghanaians will have access to mobile networks. 

According to research, there are about 3.5 million Ghanaians without mobile connectivity. By the end of next year, this group of people will heave a sigh of relief.”
