He said, working under the Ghana Education Service for thirty-four years (34) without asking for leave tell’s you how hardworking and dedicated I was to my duty since the time as a class room teacher.

Dr. Peter Attafuah who has retired as the Northern Regional Education Director saying has served thirty-four years in education service without going on leave.

He said, working under the Ghana Education Service for thirty-four years (34) without asking for leave tells you how hardworking and dedicated I was to my duty since my time as a classroom teacher.

“Today I have handed over affairs of the regional directorate to Mr. Alidu Alhassan as the Care-Taker Director and wish to state that I attained the age of 60 years on 14th July 2022, and I was born on 14th July 1962,” he said.

“I celebrated my birthday with a grand style with my banner of attaining 60 years hanging in my office, leaving the office without knowing who to handover to has kept me in from 14th July 2022 till as am officially handing over to the Caretaker Director for the region.

He said Dr. Peter Attafuah had no intention of being in the office after my retirement."

Dr. Peter Attafuah revealed that he started his work with the Ghana Education Service in Yapei Presby J.S.S (1988 - 1991) spending five years and retiring in the same region as a Regional Director of education.

Honorable.  Alhaji Mohammed Haroon former regional education director for the Northern region the special guest of the send-off ceremony reiterated that most teachers who die years after retirement is due to a lack of planning after retirement, he added.

He advised members who are still in active service to always plan their life well after retirement which is a necessity of life after long service. 

Speaking at the send-off ceremony, Prof Abdulai AsuroI who is the Rector of Tamale Technical University said, he was very impressed with the new facelift of the  Northern regional Education Headquarters and the keen development of the education in the region which was all done under the leadership and Supervision of the Team Player Dr. Peter Attafuah”.

The program was graced by Various Regional Directors of Education across the country, all Municipal and District Directors of Education in the region, Various CHASS Chairpersons across the Country, Staff of Education services, and teachers in the region were present for the ceremony to witness the send-off of the former Northern Regional Education Director.
