Felicia Obeng a 41-year-old Ghanaian woman has been fatally shot and killed in the U.S city of Worcester, Massachusetts.

Boston 25 news reported that two women were shot at 629 Cambridge Street.

Felicia and another Ghanaian woman believed to be her mother-in-law, both suffered gunshot wounds in an attack that left her dead and the latter injured.

The deceased Ghanaian sadly left behind two boys – a 9-year-old and a 4-year-old.

Police were dispatched to the neighborhood after a gun detection system heard gunshots, Worcester PD said.

They found the two women with gunshot wounds – Felicia didn’t make it but her fellow Ghanaian survived.

The incident occurred the night of Saturday, July 16th, 2022.

A statement from Worcester PD read: “On July 16th, 2022 at about 7:05 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Cambridge St for a report of a ShotSpotter activation. While on their way to the call, officers were informed that someone had called in reporting a gunshot victim.”

 “When officers arrived, they located a forty-one-year-old female gunshot victim. This victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Officers located a second gunshot victim on the scene with less serious wounds. She was transported to the hospital for treatment,” the statement added.

Police were at the scene all night investigating the crime, Boston 25 news reports.

Speaking to family members of the late Ghanaian, they narrated what happened before the shooting to Boston 25 news.

“My sister-in-law [was shot]. She was sitting here with her mother and my brother was at the back. So we heard a gunshot and he came and the mother and my sister-in-law were shot,” the deceased’s sister-in-law, Grace Asare, narrated.

Police are still investigating and have asked the public for information on the shooting.
