Reports reaching Soiree News 24 desk indicate that some students of Spiritan Senior High Technical School at Adankwame in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of Ashanti Region have been robbed at gunpoint resulting in more than 9 students quitting the school.

The incident according to the Adankwame residents happened at dawn, Saturday 13th February 2021.

The Assembly Member for Adankwame Electoral area Mr. Paul Yeboah Asiamah confirmed the incident to Soiree News in an exclusive interview that the armed robbers besieged the school’s hostel with guns and cutlasses at dawn.

They took away monies, foodstuff among others belonging to students.

According to him, more than 9 students who were attacked have left the school to seek admission to different schools as a result of the trauma they experienced.

He affirmed that the case has been reported to the Adankwame Police and investigation is ongoing to fish out the culprits.

However, the headmaster of Spiritan Senior High Technical School has refused to speak about the unpleasant incident.

What may have caused the robbery?

Spiritan Senior High Technical School at Adankwame is among schools in Ghana that have poor security, poor facilities, and an unconducive environment for studies.

People enter the school’s campus haphazardly without question due to the lack of a fence wall and some equipped security personnel to ensure students' safety.

The school is constantly dark as a result of the lack of street lights giving room for thieves and armed robbers to operate at any time of their convenience.

Residents of Adankwame claim there have been several instances of robbery attacks on learners and teachers.
