Approximately, 5,569 enumerators, together with supervisors, have been dispatched for the 2021 population and Housing census in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Regional Director of Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) Mr Bright Worlanyo Neku, opined, the exercise has smoothly commenced across the country.

He said, officially, the 2021 population and housing census commenced across the country from last night, and the exercise is expected to run till July 11, 2021.

According to him, the 2021 census is the first digital Population and Housing Census to be done in Ghana and insisted, the exercise is important for the digitization of the country and must be treated as such, he stressed.

A real-time data collection and real-time data quality monitoring mechanisms to scrutinize the data daily activities have been synchronized for error identification for immediate correction.

The Ghana Statistical Service, monitoring is an additional layer of supervision added to enhance the accuracy, of the data to be collected.

He emphasized, that the technology will also offer Management an opportunity to monitor the movement of enumerators and supervisors, timing, as well as the origin of interacting with the servers installed.

The 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) is estimated to cost the country GHS 521 million.

Out of this amount, the government has already raised and disbursed GHS 467 million out of the total sum for the start of the exercise.
