The Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) led by Ashanti Regional Minister, Honorable Simon Osei Mensah in a press conference today, Tuesday, April 27, 2021, has drawn the attention of the public especially traders that the Asantehene will be using certain routes for ceremonial purposes as he marks 22 years since his enstoolment.

Per the directives, the Asantehene as custom demands will walk from Manhyia towards the Apagyafie road through to Dr Mensah. He will then continue in the direction of STC street to Kejetia roundabout before heading to Melcom street, to the Akyeampemhene’s house and end at Nsuase on Wednesday, (Wukudae).

After performing the necessary rites, the Asantehene will take the Hello FM route, to Kejetia roundabout towards Dr Mensah back to Manhyia.

The walk will begin at 5:30 am.

Honourable Simon Osei Mensah during the press conference made known how traders have taken over the ceremonial routes and called on the media to propagate the message to the attention of sellers to quickly empty the streets.

“The traders have taken over ceremonial routes which will make it difficult for the Asantehene to walk," he said.

"I and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly have been informed to clear the streets for use. Tomorrow is Awukudae (Wednesday), and Otumfuo will use the route therefore it is necessary to propagate this message for all traders to evacuate as quickly as possible,” he said.

He added that subsequent event on Fofie (Friday) and Akwasidae (Sunday) will require the usage of the routes by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
