1986 Middle School Leavers Celebrate 40th Anniversary; Local Group Supports Mepe Community With Healthcare And Infrastructure Donations

The 1986 middle school leavers from the Mepe Traditional Area, located in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, have successfully and peacefully celebrated their 40th graduation anniversary. 

The event served as a historic reunion for the former students.

Since completing middle school in 1986, the group has previously held its 10th and 25th anniversary celebrations before organizing this milestone 40-year event. 

During the celebration, members danced, socialized, shared community development ideas, and made merry to strengthen their bonds.

Organizers pointed out that the group includes not only those who studied in the Mepe Traditional Area, but also many Mepe citizens from schools in other areas of Ghana. 

These alumni joined the 1986 year group to mark both past milestones and the current anniversary. 

The main event was held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Mepe township, coinciding with the ongoing annual Afenorto Festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of the Mepe Traditional Area.

According to the Vice Chairman of the 1986 Mepe Middle School Leavers, Mr Richard Korgbor, the group used its 40th anniversary to give back to the community. 

They donated money to their former teachers, presented five benches to the Mepe Healthcare Facility, and donated an ultra-modern signboard to the Mepe Traditional Council, which includes directional signs to the local health facility.

The Vice Chairman emphasized the group's long-term commitment to contributing significantly to social and infrastructural development projects and programmes in the Mepe Traditional Area. 

He maintained that the group has an ambitious vision and mission to improve the overall welfare of its members.

Furthermore, Mr. Korgbor highlighted the group's readiness to counsel its members against using hard drugs and banned substances that could destroy their lives.

"lWe are a group dedicated to ensuring that we support each other in diverse ways to celebrate life until we join our makers. We will engage actively with one another by attending weddings and child-naming ceremonies, and we will work closely with the chiefs and people of the Mepe Traditional Area to foster peace, unity, and development in Mepe and its local communities,"

Mr. Korgbor reaffirmed.

He concluded by urging members to exercise regularly to maintain their health and longevity. 

Mr. Korgbor, a teacher by profession, advised the youth to take their education seriously and avoid social vices that could jeopardize their futures
