Arsenal are willing to improve Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s offer in a bid to keep him at the Emirates Stadium.

The Daily Star reports that the Gunners will propose a £250,000-a-week wage to the Gabonese following his decision not to negotiate contract extension until his current deal runs out.

Although Mikel Arteta has earlier updated that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is happy at Arsenal yet refusal to prolong his stay is one greatest worry for the Gunners after he led the team to win their 14th FA Cup trophy on Saturday. He scored a brace as Arsenal secured a Europa League spot having failed to after finishing eighth in the just ended Premier League.

Inter Milan and Barcelona want the services of the 31-year old hence Arsenals improved offer to convince the skipper that his future is best defined at the Emirates.

Arteta who became the first manager to win a major trophy in their first season in charge of the club since George Graham in 1986-87 praised the impact of Aubameyang on the game and hoped that he can stay longer to become an Arsenal legend.

"It's the most difficult thing in football, that's for sure, and he makes it simple – look at the second goal he scored," Arteta said.

"We always had incredible strikers at this football club and Auba deserves to be named and compared with the big names.

"By winning trophies he will be closer to that and the longer he stays there as well.

"Hopefully we can have him for more time."
