Highlife musician Kwasi Poku Addae, better known by his stage name Kwaisey Pee, has expressed his thoughts on the current state of the highlife scene in the nation.

Kwaisey Pee claimed that the new generation of highlife musicians had modernized the genre in his discussion of the current state of the genre.

According to Kwaisey Pee, "Highlife songs are still in the system, but the new crop of musicians have modernized it and they want to do it in a fresh way."

The singer of the successful song "Akono Akono" said that while it's beneficial for the next generation of musicians to modernize Highlife music, they shouldn't ignore the indigenous aspects in the genre.

"I mean, I think everything is fantastic, but we shouldn't ignore our native Highlife elements,"

 In an interview with Kastle FM, he said, "I mean, I believe it's all wonderful, but we shouldn't forget about our indigenous Highlife aspects that make our music different from any other genre."
