Ghanaian midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso has exposed that the Senior National Team, Black Stars impeding progress is because of political affiliations with the Ghana Football Association.

According to the Jiangsu Suning F.C player, Ghanaian politics is the greatest enemy ruining the Ghanaian game and if not handled, will continue to deprive the Black Stars successes in the coming years.

Ghana last won the African Cup of Nations in the 1982 and have been runners up for five times with further attempts to claim the trophy having proved futile aside the hefty winning bonuses and luxurious incentives.

Ghanaians have criticized numerous players and managers for their failed attempt and commitment to get hold of the African Cup trophy, with the most disappointing event happening in 2008 where the Black Stars failed to break the jinx of winning the trophy after decades on home soil.

Further setbacks occured during the South Africa World cup following Djan's penalty miss against Uruguay which denied Ghana the opportunity to represent Africa in the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup hosted in South Africa, the first ever to be graced in the African continent in 2010.

Speaking to Angel TV, the participant and one of the impressive players at the AFCON 2019 tournament held in Egypt revealed that conflicts between the two gallant political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the direction of football activities is the provocative element behind the Black Star’s progress.

“I will speak the truth today, do you know our problem about the game? Maybe we know but we don’t want to say it but i think politics ruins the Blacks Stars at times. When NDC is in power, NPP doesn't want us to win and vice versa,” Wakaso told Angel TV.

Ghana failed to qualify to the quarterfinals in the 32nd edition of the Nations Cup, which called for the sack of the head coach, Kwesi Appiah.

Coach C. K. Akonnor is the new manager of the Black Stars under the Kurt Okraku’s administration.
