August 7 is likely to be the date for the second leg of Real Madrid's Champions League last-16 tie with Manchester City.

If the fixture kicks off in Manchester on that date, it will have been 174 days since Pep Guardiola's side won the first leg 2-1 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

If everything goes as planned, Los Blancos will go into that game with almost three months of work under their belts.

Zinedine Zidane's men will have trained for several weeks and played their 11 remaining LaLiga Santander fixtures, finishing by the end of July.

Before the suspension of the season, City were big favourites to progress past Real Madrid in this tie.

However, after a few months, who knows what state both teams will be in.

UEFA will make a final decision on the scheduling of the Champions League and Europa League in their executive board meeting on May 27.

The dates for the second legs of Barcelona-Napoli, Juventus-Lyon and Bayern Munich-Chelsea will also be decided on.

While winning LaLiga Santander is Zidane's top priority, Real Madrid still have their eyes firmly fixed upon Champions League glory.

Lifting that big-eared cup in August would mean a substantial financial reward for Los Blancos, who are already better prepared than most economically for the coronavirus crisis.

Let's not forget, Zidane is still to lose a Champions League knockout tie as Real Madrid boss.
