'We're running out of food and water'

In response to the ongoing fighting in Sudanese cities, Tariq tells the BBC World Service's Newsday program that the sound of explosions and gunshots is particularly strong this morning.

'We're running out of food and water'

After three days of intense warfare, residents of Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, are running out of food and water, a human rights activist tells the BBC.

According to Duaa Tariq, in the wake of the bloodshed, activists are organizing acts of nonviolent resistance to military authority and advocating for a smooth transition to civilian rule in Sudan.

But according to her, there have been two days without electricity, businesses are closed, and locals in many areas of the capital did not have time to replenish on supplies.

Considering that her sister and small nephew have escaped even more intense confrontations nearby to remain with her, she continues by calling the situation "terrifying" for her family.

Without food and water, things are troubling right now."It's worrying now without food and water."
