Wenchi Traditional Council Bans Noise Making

The Wenchi Traditional Council has announced a ban on drumming and noise-making.

The two weeks ban on drumming and noise-making begins from April 14th to April 28, 2022.

Addressing the media, Nana Owusu Ansah Sesraku Besseah II, the Koasehene, said the ban which is an annual traditional rite that precedes the celebration of the Apour festival referred to as" Adamu" by the chiefs and people of Wenchi, requires silence.

The ban which coincides with this year's  Easter celebration has made the traditional Council direct all churches holding Easter conventions with the lands of the Wenchi Traditional Area to do that on their church premises.

"We asked the Clergies and their congregations to minimize the barest limits of noise during this sacred period on our traditional Callender". The positioning of loudspeakers outside church premises of churches, mosques, and pubs is banned. Roadside evangelists have also ceased their activities, Nana Owusu Ansah Sasraku said

According to Koasehene, religious bodies and traditional authorities are equally expected to show respect for one another and restrain their followers from making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the beliefs and practices of one another.
