The assembly also decided that the registration fee for new companies who wish to buy cashew nuts in the Wenchi municipality is GH¢ 1,000 .00, while the business operating permit payable annually is three thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢3,000.00).

Wenchi Municipal Assembly Sets Guidelines For Cashew Operation Companies

Following the outcome of a series of consultative meetings between the Wenchi Municipal Assembly and stakeholders in the cashew value chain, the assembly has decided that all companies who will be buying cashew from the Wenchi municipality in the 2022 season, will be required to operate within the following guidelines:

All companies who wish to buy cashew nuts this year should establish an operational site (warehouse)at Wenchi, companies should liaise with the Cargo branch of GPRTU for transportation of the cashew nuts from Wenchi directly to Tema, this is expected to facilitate the issuance of waybill directly from Wenchi.

Again no vehicle owner apart from the ones arranged through the local branch of the GPRTU in collaboration with the Executives of the cashew farmers association shall be allowed to transport goods (cashew) from Wenchi, to this end, offenders shall be liable to a spot fine of five thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢ 5000.00) upon the arrest of vehicles and goods on board.

The assembly also decided that the registration fee for new companies who wish to buy cashew nuts in the Wenchi municipality is GH¢ 1,000 .00, while the business operating permit payable annually is three thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢3,000.00).

In addition, agents are to pay a business operating permit of one thousand Ghana cedis.

After the consultative meetings between the Wenchi Municipal Assembly and stakeholders in the cashew value chain, it concluded that conveyance per bag is one Ghana cedi (GH¢1.00).
