We are ready to offer   everything to salvage   the country'

Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso in the Eastern Region, Honourable Stephen Amoah has indicated the resolve of the majority of MPs on the ruling government's side to contribute their quota to salvage the economy.

He made the statement in an interview at the sidelines of parliamentary proceedings.

According to him, they would have no challenge to do so if that would salvage the economy.

"Whenever you have a problem with the fiscal space, you look through your discretional spendings arm of the budget, and this exactly what the government is doing", he said.

Though, he claimed he had not read through a directive that seeks to demand some 10% cut in government expenditure but was optimistic that his side would gladly welcome the directive.

He said despite the current economic hardship, the New Patriotic Party(NPP) remained better than the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He said already his government has cut 20% of spending and that he said was as a result of a way cushion Ghanaians from the hardship.

He said before the current conditions, the cedi depreciation was 3.9 in 2020 and 3.94 in 2021, this he said was better than what was experienced under the NDC.

He said the NDC increased the debt portfolio from 9.2 to 120 billion.

" Even with the current economic crises, the Gross Domestic Product(GDP) now is better than what the NDC left for Ghanaians ", he noted.
