The Volta River Authority (VRA) has indicated that it has laid down structures to make Akosombo a center of technology to help solve climate challenges and  empower development in the country.

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has indicated that it has laid down structures to make Akosombo a center of technology to help solve climate challenges and  empower development in the country.

According to management of VRA, they will in 2022 embark on a digitalization exercise to make the area a technology hub with the introduction of electric buses, and vehicles as well as other high -tech initiatives

These was said during a Thanksgiving service to climax its 60th anniversary held at Akuse club house in the Lower manya krobo municipality of the Eastern Region.

 Addressing the gathering, Ing.Frank Akligo, adviser to the chief Executive of the VRA, Mr Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa added that their initiative is in line with leadership of the climate change agenda to help reduce carbon emmissions as per the Paris Agreement COP 26, which was recently held at Glasgow-Uk.

 

He stressed that, management through technology are seeking to diversify and expand it's operation to adopt clean, cost efficient sources of energy such as solar, wind and biomasses.

 

Mr Akligo used the opportunity to urged it's staffs to take the advantage of the Christmas break to reflect on the challenges encountered this year and return with a desires to do better.
