A-46-year old unemployed man who sold half plot of land without the rightful authority has been sentenced to a 7500 penalty units.

The Ashaiman Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Simon Gaga has fined a a-46-year-old unemployed man 7500 penalty units amounting to GHS90,000.00 for granting a piece of land without title; contrary to section 277 (2A) of the land transaction Act 2020(Act 1036).

Prosecuting the case in court, the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector S. Aperweh told the court that the complainant, Ibrahim Kwaning, 59, is a mason residing at Adjei Kojo Promiseland while the accused person, Kennedy Omari Adofo, 46, unemployed also resides at Promiseland, all of which are suburbs of Ashaiman within the Greater Accra Region.

She said in the year 2019, the accused, Kennedy Omari Adofo sold half plot of land at Santoe to the complainant, Ibrahim Kwaning for an amount of GHS15,000.00 without having any authority or title over the land.

After the sale, she said the Tema Development Corporation(TDC) prevented the complainant from developing the land while claiming ownership of the same.

A report was made at the Kanewu Police Station leading to the arrest of Kennedy Omari Adofo. He was later granted inquiry bail but went into hiding. However, he was re-arrested and charged for court upon investigations.
