An Ashaiman circuit court has sentenced one Amoah Boapong to 50 penalty units totaling GHS600.00.
Amoah Boapong was found guilty in his plea of allowing the discharge of wastewater into neighbors' premises contrary to section 56 subsection (a) and (b) of the Public Health Act 851/2012.
Prosecuting, the prosecutor, Katey George told the court that the accused was a trader at Bukom along the main road of Ashaiman.
He said on 5 March 2022 at about 9:00 am, the Environmental Health Officers as part of their operation clean your frontage monitoring and found that the accused person's drains were choked with sand and refuse.
The officers upon seeing that gave constructive notice to the accused to desilt the drains, collect the sand, and dispose of the refuse with immediate effect from the road and report to the police office the following day but he blatantly refused.
He said on 23 March 2022 when a follow-up was made by the officers, they found out that the accused had to clean the unsanitary condition.
The officers discovered that the insanitary condition was left on attended to.
They then served him with a summons to appear before the honorable court after presenting the fact was found guilty and was charged upon his plea of guilt.
