UN to debate alleged war crimes in Ethiopia’s Tigray

Starting on Monday, the United Nations Human Rights Council will hold a lengthy five-week conference in Geneva.

The council looks into breaches of human rights and advocates for them globally.

The emphasis is anticipated to be on Russia's activities in Ukraine. The agenda also includes the repression of women in Iran and Afghanistan as well as claimed war crimes in Ethiopia.

The committee will also examine Belarus, North Korea, Myanmar, and South Sudan. Member nations, however, agreed not to talk about China's alleged abuses of its Muslim Uyghur community.

António Guterres, the UN secretary-general, will begin this meeting.
