Ugandan spokesman confronts mayor on live TV

On live television on Thursday, the mayor of Kampala, the capital of Uganda, sparred with the spokeswoman for the administration before the discussion descended into hostility and the chat show was abruptly cut short.

There were four panelists at the broadcast discussing the just finished by-election, including government spokesman Ofwono Opondo and opposition party Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago of the FDC.

As the discussion heated up, Mr. Opondo is heard saying to the mayor, "I can shove you out of here," in videos posted on Twitter.

Later, Mr. Opondo stood over the mayor as they exchanged harsh words just before the show was canceled.

Mayor Lukwago tweeted that the experience was "horrible" and despicable".

"My only prayer is that I get out of this place safely," he added.

the broadcaster apologized to viewers and stated that all panelists exited the studio safely.
